Worship style
Hope Center Okayama believes that the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in the Bible (Acts 2:1-4, 1 Corinthians 12:8-10) still exist today. (Theologically, it is a Pentecostal denomination, and its religious organization is the Assemblies of God in the UK.)
Therefore, we sometimes pray in tongues during worship services. Speaking in tongues means singing or praying in a language you have never learned, when you are filled with the Holy Spirit. (Theologically, it is a miracle given as evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. See Acts 2:1-4.) Sometimes someone in the group will speak a message in tongues for a few seconds, and immediately afterward, someone else will explain its meaning in Japanese or English. This is also called prophecy, as God guides us through human speech, giving us encouragement and comfort. We also have time after the worship message for prophecy and healing. Healing is when God miraculously heals illnesses through people laying hands on them and praying, so please do not hesitate to ask if you wish to receive it.
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact us by phone or email, or you can ask the pastor directly after the service or during fellowship time.
Please come and experience the miracles of the all-knowing and all-powerful God by attending a service at Hope Center Okayama!
